Southpointe of Manatee County Community Development District is a local, special-purpose government entity authorized by Chapter 190 of the Florida Statutes as amended and established on July 27, 2023 by the Board of County Commissioners of Manatee County, Ordinance No. 23-94 as an alternative method of planning, acquiring, operating and maintaining community-wide improvements in planned communities.
Southpointe of Manatee County CDD encompasses an area of approximately 137.412acres entirely Manatee County, Florida, generally located south of County Road 6, east of County Road 683 and northwest of the intersection of Interstate 275 and Interstate 75.
Southpointe of Manatee County CDD expects to plan establish, acquire, construct or reconstruct, enlarge or extend, equip, operate, and maintain additional systems and facilities.
A Community Development District (CDD) provides the 'solution' to Florida's need to provide valuable community infrastructure generated by growth, ultimately without overburdening other governments and their taxpaying residents. CDDs represent a major advancement in Florida's effort to manage its growth effectively and efficiently. This allows a community to establish higher construction standards, meanwhile providing a long-term solution to the operation and maintenance of the community's facilities.
